Seattle World's Fair

First Day Covers

A First Day Cover (FDC) is a postcard or envelope where a new style postage stamp has been cancelled on its first day of issue. Typically there is a first day of issue postmark (often with a pictorial cancellation) indicating the city and date where the item was first issued.

Many First Day Covers were postmarked from the Seattle World’s Fair – Century 21 Exposition on April 25, 1962. I’m sure this list is incomplete and I will continue to add to it as I discover other FDC’s.

Depending on condition and rarity the FDC postcards typically sell for between $3.00 - $12.00
